Beschreibung

This 911 was completed on August 24, 1965, and finished in Signal Red over a black leatherette interior, according to the Kardex copy on file. The Kardex also notes factory options, including a Webasto gas heater, Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio, loudspeaker, and antenna. The 911 was sold new through Volkswagen Pacific of Culver City, California, to a resident of Santa Monica. The first owner took European delivery and retained the Porsche for four years before selling it to a collector in Indiana in 1969. Early in that collector’s ownership, a leaking oil reservoir was noted, and the car was placed in storage, where it would remain for 41 years until it was acquired by the current owner in 2010.

The current owner reports that this early 911 was remarkably complete and free of corrosion, but in need of a thorough restoration. During the restoration, the car’s original engine and transaxle were rebuilt by specialist John Truman. The 911 was then refinished in its factory-specified Signal Red paint by PanelWerks in Mentor, Ohio, and the interior was retrimmed in black leatherette. Today, the 911’s 15-year-old restoration still presents beautifully, and it received First in Class honors at the 2017 Porsche Werks Reunion as well as the Weissach Award and the Zuffenhausen Award at the 2013 and 2021 Porsche Parades, respectively. Having received a carburetor rebuild in 2024 and new tires in 2025, this short-wheelbase 911 is sure to delight its next custodian.
