An authentic 1600 HF that has had only three owners and is perfectly prepared for historic racing
Derived from the Fulvia saloon, the Coupé stands out for its more flowing and sporty lines, but above all for its potential, which quickly convinced Lancia to enter it into competition. The first Fulvia 1.2 HF appeared in 1966, soon followed by the 1.6 HF. The Fulvia went on to distinguish itself in the biggest international rallies, reaching the pinnacle of its success in the 1972 season, before continuing its string of victories until 1974. In total, 3,690 units of the 1600 HF Coupé and HF Lusso were built before production of the Fulvia HF ceased in January 1973.
The car on offer was first registered in France on 10 December 1971 by Mrs Madeleine Boucher, in the Gers. She kept her Lancia for 28 years before it passed to its second owner in November 2007. The comprehensive file accompanying the car, including in particular a copy of its original registration document and several period photographs, attests to its excellent condition. Never repainted or modified, it was in perfect working order at the time and had 69,792 km on the clock.
Wishing to take part in historic rallies, its second owner then undertook a complete restoration. The car was fully dismantled, as evidenced by the extensive photographic record that has been preserved. The bodywork, which was in particularly good condition, was treated and then repainted in its original colour, whilst the engine, gearbox, running gear, brakes, fuel tank and fuel system were completely dismantled and rebuilt. Every step of the work was carefully documented, part by part, and over €23,000 was invested in its restoration.
In 2017, it was purchased from Aguttes by its current and third owner, who continued to maintain the car with care, enjoying its remarkable reliability for several years. After covering many kilometres, the decision has now been taken to hang up the gloves. The car also comes with a historic technical certificate dating from 2009, a set of parts including 8 additional Cromodora wheels fitted with competition tyres, and its beautiful original interior (front seats, rear bench seat and rear bumper). The car is in excellent condition overall.
Powered by its characteristic 1,584 cm³ V4 engine developing 114 ch at 6,200 rpm, this Fulvia 1600 HF combines a well-documented history, a fully documented restoration and a set-up proven in historic racing. Its sporting achievements made the Fulvia one of Lancia’s iconic models, before the Stratos took its place on the special stages. A rare third-owner example, this car now offers the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a characterful machine, eligible for prestigious historic events such as the Tour Auto or the Historic Monte Carlo Rally.
