At Daytona Automobil, we have the privilege of evaluating some of the finest modern classic Ferraris on the market. Every now and then, a vehicle arrives that sets a new benchmark for originality and provenance. This 2004 Ferrari 575M Maranello is precisely that kind of car. Delivered new on August 2, 2004, by the authorized Swedish Ferrari dealer Autoropa, it has remained in Sweden its entire life. It is believed to have had just three private owners, with the most recent custodian acquiring it two years ago for a private collection where it has been driven very sparingly. Showing 32,269 kilometers indicated on the odometer, this is an accident free, incredibly honest example that is believed to retain its original factory paint on every single panel.

The 575M holds a monumental place in Maranello history. The "M" stands for Modificata, signaling a comprehensive and aggressive evolution of the highly successful 550 Maranello platform. Ferrari engineers enlarged the 65 degree V12 engine block by increasing both the bore from 88mm to 89mm and the stroke from 75mm to 77mm. This pushed displacement to 5.75 liters and raised the compression ratio to 11.0:1. As a result, power climbed to 515 bhp at 7,250 rpm. However, the true difference lies in the engine mapping. While the 550 was celebrated for its linear power delivery, the 575M was deliberately tuned to feel far more explosive and sudden. This powertrain allowed the 575M to claim a top speed of over 202 mph, making it the very first front engined production Ferrari capable of breaking the 200 mph barrier.

What truly distinguishes this specific example is the factory inclusion of the Fiorano Handling Package (FHP). The standard 575M was engineered as a very capable grand tourer, but the FHP option turned it into a remarkably sharp and communicative driver's car. The package included stiffer springs front and rear to drastically reduce pitch during heavy braking and acceleration. The entire ride height was lowered by approximately 10mm to bring the center of gravity closer to the tarmac, while a thicker rear anti roll bar was fitted to mitigate body roll in high speed corners. The factory also applied a dedicated suspension geometry setup to maximize mechanical grip. Perhaps most importantly for the driving experience, the steering ECU was completely remapped to provide less hydraulic assistance, resulting in a heavier and vastly more communicative steering feel. The package was rounded out with high performance brake pads and red brake calipers.

Because the Fiorano Handling Package was a very expensive optional extra, we estimate the take rate to be roughly 15 to 25 percent of the total production run. Ferrari built just 2,056 examples of the 575M worldwide, making it significantly rarer than the 550 Maranello, which saw a production run of 3,083 cars. Consequently, we believe only 300 to 500 cars globally ever left the factory equipped with this handling package.

Finished in traditional Rosso Corsa over a full Beige leather interior, it was ordered with the Carrozzeria Scaglietti 250 GT front grille. This chrome style grille is a brilliant retro nod to the legendary 250 GT Berlinettas of the 1950s and 1960s, giving the front end a more elegant presence compared to the standard black one. The exterior specification is completed by factory enamel Scuderia wing shields and 19 inch modular split rim wheels.

Mechanical provenance is everything when acquiring a V12 Ferrari. The original service booklet for this car is stamped exclusively by authorized Ferrari workshops. The critical timing belt service has been performed four times throughout the life of the vehicle according to the booklet. Crucially for the next owner, the most recent timing belt replacement was completed in 2024 at 32,217 indicated kilometers, meaning the belts were changed roughly 50 kilometers ago.

For the collector, the completeness of the delivery accessories is often just as important as the mechanical condition. We are pleased to note that this 575M comes accompanied by its complete original leather book pack, all factory keys, and the original factory tire inflator. Furthermore, the original leather bound tool kit remains completely untouched, rounding out a truly authentic presentation.
