Beschreibung
2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series
The CLK 63 AMG Black Series is one of those cars that simply could not be built the same way today.
Back in 2008, Mercedes-AMG took the already serious CLK 63 and turned everything up. Wider body, wider track, revised suspension, bigger brakes, aggressive aerodynamics, carbon fibre, carbon bucket seats and, of course, no rear seats.
At the heart of it sits AMG’s famous 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8, producing around 507 hp and driving the rear wheels through AMG’s 7-speed automatic gearbox. Despite being a 6.2-litre engine, Mercedes used the “6.3 AMG” badge as a reference to AMG’s historic 6.3-litre V8.
Production was officially planned at 700 cars worldwide, although several sources claim that only around 500 examples were actually produced. Either way, the CLK 63 Black Series was an exceptionally limited AMG from new.
And it is not just the numbers that make the car special. Jeremy Clarkson was a big fan of the Black Series, and it is easy to understand why. This is a car that should probably come with a warning manual. The V8 sounds incredible, the rear end is always ready to play and the aggressive differential means it is more than happy to turn rear tyres into smoke.
Delivered new in Germany, this example has covered just 40,000 km from new and comes with a full Mercedes-Benz service history.
Finished in Black Metallic, it retains its original Black Series interior with carbon fibre details, AMG carbon bucket seats and rear-seat delete.
The car has never suffered any damage and retains mainly its original factory paint throughout, apart from the front end, which has been resprayed.
Perhaps the best indication of how this car has been treated is the fact that it still wears its original 2008 tyres. On a CLK Black Series, that is pretty remarkable and certainly suggests a very different life from the heavily abused or track-used examples we often see.
Before delivery, the car will receive four new tyres and a full service at Mercedes-Benz.
One of the last great naturally aspirated AMGs, one of the wildest CLK variants ever built, and a car with the right history, mileage and originality.
507 hp, rear-wheel drive, no rear seats and a V8 that loves burning rubber.
