Unveiled at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed as the range-topping expression of Mercedes-AMG's GT family, the GT R arrived with a reputation forged on the racetrack rather than the show stand. Development mileage was logged almost exclusively at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where the model went on to post a lap time of 7:10.9 for Germany's sportauto magazine. It was the fastest recorded time by a rear-wheel-drive production car around the 12.9-mile circuit, earning it the nickname "Beast of the Green Hell." That nickname found its visual counterpart in AMG Green Hell Magno, the matte finish most closely associated with the car's Nürburgring pedigree.

This 2022 example wears that Green Hell Magno finish to striking effect. Its Black leather interior features seats, door panels, and dashboard with contrasting yellow stitching throughout. Offered with just under 11,000 kilometers at cataloging, the car is powered by AMG's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, producing 585 PS and 700 Nm of torque, sent to the rear wheels alone and supported by the active aerodynamics and rear-wheel steering carried over from the model's Nürburgring development program.

Acquired directly from its first owner in April 2025, this GT R is offered here by its second and current owner. It was last serviced in May 2026 and has been sparingly driven since. The sale includes the original books and pouch, along with the car's German registration documents.

As the flagship of the AMG GT lineup, the GT R occupies a rarefied position among modern performance cars, pairing its hand-built twin-turbo V8 with a fully adjustable coilover suspension and a nine-stage traction control system drawn directly from AMG's motorsport program. Few modern sports cars carry as direct a connection to a single stretch of German tarmac, and fewer still wear that connection as literally as this car does in its factory Green Hell livery. Track-proven rather than a badge-engineered performance variant, this GT R stands among the most complete and visually striking examples of the breed.
