HISTORY/DOCUMENTATION
A unique car: this Dyna-Veritas Cabriolet, built in 1952. The manufacturer produced only 176 cars, of which around 15 examples are still known to exist. What makes this example even more special is that it has been registered with a Dutch number plate since 1965. It was first registered in 1954. The chassis number is 852004 and the original registration certificate from 1965 is still in its possession. The car was delivered at that time to Baron ‘Willem Hendrik Taets van Amerongen van Renswoude’, a highly distinguished figure who served as Mayor of Oudenrijn and Driebergen-Rijsenburg. He also owned the well-known Renswoude Castle. The car remained in the family’s possession until 2010 – a remarkable 55 years!

The brand only built cars from 1950 to 1952 with the aim of bringing an affordable sports car for the masses to the market. Many parts came from other car brands, such as DKW and Volkswagen. Under the bonnet, it is effectively a French car; for the chassis, engine and gearbox are sourced from Panhard & Levassor. The name Dyna therefore refers to a Panhard model. The bodywork was manufactured by the German coachbuilder ‘Baur’. Although the example we are offering has been in the Netherlands for a long time, it remains relatively unknown. The car is guaranteed to attract a lot of attention, and very few people are familiar with it. The car has been restored in the past, meaning it is in excellent condition. This makes the car a unique asset and a valuable addition to any collection. A rare opportunity to acquire a beautifully finished example. This greatly increases the chance of participating in the legendary Mille Miglia rally!

EXTERIOR
The colour combination is very attractive: light blue metallic paintwork with a red interior and a beige roof. This really shows off the aerodynamic curves and flowing mudguards to their best advantage. The windows and lights are in pristine condition. The rubber seals have been replaced. The chrome trim is in good condition with a light patina. The steel wheels have been painted in the body colour and finished with chrome hubcaps. The car has been restored in the past, with the paintwork repainted. Visually, there are a few signs of wear. The luxurious beige soft top is double-walled and has been recently replaced, meaning it is in superb condition.

INTERIOR
The interior is characterised by delightful simplicity: there are just a few beautifully crafted dials and buttons. Thanks to the rear seat, there is room for a total of four people. Opening the beautiful soft top allows you to enjoy the sun. The boot is very well maintained and fitted with new red upholstery. The spare wheel and original tools are also located here. The dashboard is painted in the body colour and contrasts beautifully with the red leather upholstery. A fine and unique combination of French flair and German reliability.

TECHNICAL
The front-mounted aluminium, air-cooled 4-stroke 2-cylinder boxer engine has a capacity of 850 cc and produces 42 hp. This engine makes driving the car a playful experience. Despite the small engine, the low weight and front-wheel drive ensure plenty of agility and grip. Over the past year, the car has undergone a technical overhaul and has been made fully roadworthy. Among other things, the gearbox mechanism and cover have been reconditioned, engine mounts have been replaced and the carburetion has been adjusted. The engine bay and underside of the car are in very good, rust-free condition. Please also see our extensive photo report. It is evident that the car has been driven very little since the restoration was completed. The car drives, changes gear and brakes well.

GENERAL
Between 1947 and 1950, the German brand Veritas built a small number of sports cars based on the BMW. Due to financial and supply problems, the brand changed course in 1950 with the aim of producing a small and affordable sports car for the masses. This led to the creation of a coupé and convertible model in collaboration with the French firm Panhard & Levassor, which supplied the chassis, gearbox and engine. The self-supporting steel body was built in Stuttgart by Baur. The rear mudguards, instruments and steering wheel, meanwhile, came from the DKW F89, and the door handles and headlights from Volkswagen. All in all, a unique combination of French engineering and German design. The press described the car at the time as ‘a piece of craftsmanship’, yet the price (over 7,500 German Marks) proved too high compared to the competing models from Volkswagen and DKW. The brand went bankrupt as early as 1952, but most of the cars were not delivered to their first owners until later. Of the total of 176 examples built, only around 15 are known to exist today, of which six are reportedly roadworthy.
