Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante China Grey

Forget the Da Vinci’s, Picasso’s and Michelangelo’s of this world. The most beautiful work of art of our time rolls straight out of the Aston Martin factory and goes by the name DBS Superleggera Volante! This particular example is brilliantly specified – including a lot of carbon, inside and out. The brutally beautiful Brit has just one drawback: given its overwhelming presence and equally impressive driving experience, we fear it won’t be gracing our showroom for very long… Will you at least promise us you’ll take good care of her? And do drop by every now and then – even if it’s just for the gezelligheid…

Exterior

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante is not a DB11 2.0, but a 5.0. That’s how much more powerful this convertible is – and we don’t just mean that literally. Take a good look at the breathtaking lines of the DBS Superleggera and you’ll know exactly what we mean. This lightweight Aston Martin is broader, tougher, more exciting and more beautiful than all its siblings combined. This open supercar doesn’t just have a wow factor – it moves heaven and earth with its sensational appearance. Especially when the ultra-stylish body is finished in timeless and robust China Grey, combined with gloss black A-pillars, gloss black brake calipers, black mesh louvres and grille, matte black exhaust tips and a black convertible roof.

But it gets even more interesting: the taillights are of the “Smoked” variety, the wheels feature a Polished Twin Ten Spoke design/finish, and a full Carbon Body Pack is included – comprising a carbon fibre splitter, diffuser and rear spoiler. The addition “Superleggera” fits this AM DBS like no other.

Interior

Step inside and it immediately becomes clear that the carbon fibre celebration continues in impressive fashion. In addition to the carbon sports steering wheel and matching shift paddles, a Carbon Fibre Twill trim has also been selected from the options list. These elements feature a satin finish, giving the hardcore machine a luxurious touch.

You take your seat in electrically adjustable and heated Sports Plus Seats, complete with the iconic Aston Martin Wings integrated into the headrests. The superbly supportive sports seats are finished in Obsidian Black leather combined with Pure Black Alcantara, just like the rest of the cockpit. The sense of fascination and mystery is completed by the addition of a Dark Chrome Jewelry Pack – a clever touch, because this Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante truly is a jewel on wheels.

Options & Extras

Anyone who thinks they’ve already scrolled through all the options is sorely mistaken. Besides its formidable specification, the AM DBS Superleggera is also equipped with a wide range of luxury features. These include a Premium Hi-Fi audio system, Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, wind deflector, Cruise Control, garage door opener, and even an umbrella found its way into the interior of the Volante. We sincerely hope the latter is mainly intended to protect you from all that sunshine.

Technology & Performance

Umbrella on board or not, things get hot regardless in this brutal Brit. The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante is powered by a monstrous 5.2-litre V12 bi-turbo engine. This 48-valve, 12-cylinder delivers an asphalt-wrinkling 725 hp and 900 Nm of torque. Sprinting is not something the Superleggera Volante does – in this Aston Martin, you are simply launched. After all, 0–100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds barely gives you time to blink. The top speed of 340 km/h is just as absurd – absurdly fun!

The twin-turbo AM V12 sounds exactly the way 725 unbridled horses should sound: gloriously powerful. No, the legendary brand’s return to Formula 1 could not have come a moment too soon… the racing DNA lives on in its road-going models!
