** British Power, Open Air - das Jaguar XKR Cabriolet von 2001**
"THE CAT IS BACK", kündigt Jaguar bei der Welt-Premiere des XK am 7.März 1996 in Genf an. Es ist ein lang ersehntes Sportwagenmodell, das Jaguar da präsentiert.
Der Nachfolger des XJS ist mit dem neuen 4 Liter AJ-V8 Motor als Coupé oder zweitüriges Cabrio erhältlich. Aus Kosten- und Zeitgründen basiert der Neue auf der Plattform des XJS, während die Karosserie völlig anders aussieht. Sie ist retro-gestylt und orientiert sich wieder am E-Type der 1960er-Jahre. Der XK8 wirkt dadurch zierlicher als sein Vorgänger, aber auch dynamischer. Ein weiteres E-Type-Zitat sind die Entlüftungsschlitze auf der Motorhau-be. Der Innenraum ist nicht minder klassisch gestaltet, nichts erinnert hier an den Vorgänger XJS. Bereits in seinem ersten Produktionsjahr verkauft sich der neue XK über 14'500 Mal und übertrifft damit den besten Jahreswert seines Vorgängers XJS.
1998 kommt die Kompressor-Variante dazu, die aus dem XK8 den XKR macht. Insbesonde-re der XKR weiss potente Fahrleistungen (0–100 in ca. 5 Sekunden) mit viel Komfort und Raum für die Reise zu viert zu kombinieren. 363 PS und 500 Nm Drehmoment sorgen in jeder Situation für souveräne Kraftreserven. Hierbei hilft auch das CATS genannte Fahrwerk, das sich mit adaptiven Stossdämpfern in Millisekunden der Fahrbahnoberfläche anpassen kann und somit besten Kontakt zur Strasse bietet.
Dieses XKR Cabrio wurde 2001 durch die Jaguar Schweiz AG importiert. Es stammt aus 3. Hand, hat erst 47'500 Kilometer auf dem Tacho und wurde nur im Sommer gefahren. Es trägt die Ursprungsfarbe Topaz, die hervorragend zum nachträglich verblendeten Kühlergrill passt, das Armaturenbrett ist in Vogelaugenahorn ausgeführt.
Das elektrisch versenkbare Stoffverdeck liess die aktuelle Besitzerin 2019 ersetzen und die gesamte Hydraulik erneuern. Die 20" Reifen und das modifizierte Fahrwerk sind im Fahr-zeugausweis eingetragen, wobei die Original Felgen selbstverständlich mitgeliefert werden.
“THE CAT IS BACK” – With these bold words, Jaguar launched the long-awaited XK on 7 March 1996 at the Geneva Motor Show. A true sports car had returned to the marque’s line-up.
Successor to the long-running XJS, the new XK featured Jaguar’s modern 4.0-litre AJ-V8 engine and was offered as either a coupé or a two-door convertible. For reasons of time and cost efficiency, it was developed on the platform of the outgoing XJS, though the bodywork was a completely new design. With its retro-inspired styling, the XK clearly nodded to the iconic E-Type of the 1960s. The result was a sleeker and more dynamic-looking car. Functional bonnet vents further echoed its legendary predecessor. The interior, too, was classically elegant – with no visible link to the XJS.
In 1998, the supercharged variant was introduced, turning the XK8 into the high-performance XKR. The XKR impressively combines power (0–100 km/h in approx. 5 seconds), comfort, and space for four – making it an ideal long-distance GT. With 363 bhp and 500 Nm of torque, it delivers confident performance in every driving situation. This is further enhanced by Jaguar’s CATS (Computer Active Technology Suspension) system, which uses adaptive dampers to adjust to road conditions in milliseconds – ensuring optimal grip and comfort.
In its first year alone, the XK sold over 14,500 units – surpassing the best annual sales figure of the XJS.
This particular XKR Convertible was imported by Jaguar Switzerland AG in 2001. It comes from third ownership and has covered just 47,500 km. It was driven exclusively in the summer months and remains in its original colour, Topaz, which pairs beautifully with the later-fitted mesh grille. The dashboard is finished in elegant burled walnut.
In 2019, the current owner had the electrically operated soft-top professionally replaced, along with a full overhaul of the hydraulic system. The 20-inch wheels and modified suspension are road-legal and listed in the vehicle registration; the original wheels are included in the sale.
