- En 1991, Renault décide de renouveler sa mini bombe pour concurrencer les GTi concurrentes, Peugeot 205 et VW Golf en tête. La Clio (Phase 1) toute designée va bénéficier d’un moteur optimisé, avec notamment une culasse 16-soupapes, permettant au 4-cylindres de 1 746 cm3 issu de la R19 de développer 140 ch.
- Le châssis n’est pas en reste et le look, avec jantes spécifiques et capot bosselé, est à l’avenant. Avec son poids contenu et ses trains roulants optimisés, elle offre un cocktail détonnant, mais ne rencontrera qu’un succès mitigé, éclipsé en cours de carrière par la mythique Williams. Il semblerait qu’il se soit écoulé entre 30 000 et 35 000 Clio, une valeur bien éloignée des 332 942 exemplaires de la 205 GTI, toutes versions confondues, entre 1984 et 1994.
- La voiture qui illustre ces pages fut livrée le 12 juillet 1995 par le Garage Renault-Lille à son premier propriétaire, et immatriculée le 28 juillet 1995. Une copie de facture en date du 10 juin 1999 indique que le garage BBF Tuning a commandé chez Dimma, la société belge indissociable des kits carrosseries (et préparations) Peugeot officiels, un kit de Clio Maxi 100, et 4 jantes 17 pouces Monobloc Dimma.
- Ce kit, et sa plaque numérotée spécifique qui reprends la dénomination du kit, sa date de vente, le numéro de la facture et un numéro interne, sont montés sur la Clio qui illustre ces pages. Ajoutez à cela un échappement inox Devil, des sièges baquets et une puce Renault Sport avec rupteur à 8 000 tr/min et vous avez la 16S Ultime…
- La voiture, qui affiche un peu moins de 105 000 km au compteur, et se présente dans son jus, mais saine, bénéficie d’un historique documenté, toujours accompagnée de ses manuels et carnets d’époque, d’une copie de la facture du kit Dimma, et d’une attestation de conformité et d’authenticité de la main de Baudouin Michel, l’un des patrons fondateurs de Dimma,

- In 1991, Renault decided to renew its mini bomb to compete with rival GTis, the Peugeot 205 and VW Golf at the forefront. The Clio (Phase 1), perfectly suited for the task, would benefit from an optimised engine, notably with a 16-valve cylinder head, allowing the 1,746 cm³ 4-cylinder from the R19 to develop 140 hp.
- The chassis was not forgotten and the looks, with specific wheels and a bulged bonnet, matched accordingly. With its contained weight and optimised running gear, it offered an explosive cocktail, but would only meet with mixed success, overshadowed during its career by the mythical Williams. It appears that between 30,000 and 35,000 Clios were sold, a figure far removed from the 332,942 examples of the 205 GTI, all versions combined, between 1984 and 1994.
- The car illustrated on these pages was delivered on 12 July 1995 by Garage Renault-Lille to its first owner, and registered on 28 July 1995. A copy of an invoice dated 10 June 1999 indicates that BBF Tuning garage ordered from Dimma, the Belgian company inseparable from official Peugeot body kits (and preparations), a Clio Maxi 100 kit, and 4 17-inch Monobloc Dimma wheels.
- This kit, and its specific numbered plate which bears the kit denomination, its sale date, invoice number and an internal number, are fitted to the Clio illustrated on these pages. Add to this a Devil stainless steel exhaust, bucket seats and a Renault Sport chip with rev limiter at 8,000 rpm and you have the Ultimate 16S...
- The car, which shows just under 105,000 km on the odometer, and presents itself in original condition but sound, benefits from documented history, still accompanied by its period manuals and handbooks, a copy of the Dimma kit invoice, and a certificate of conformity and authenticity from the hand of Baudouin Michel, one of Dimma's founding bosses, established at the beginning of the month. Enthusiasts of the genre, don't let your chance slip by.
