The Ner-a-Car, invented by American Carl A. Neracher in 1919, was the first commercially successful hub-centre steering motorcycle. Built under license in the UK by Sheffield Simplex, it retained the original pressed-steel chassis, hub-centre steering, and friction-drive transmission. US-built models were powered by a two-stroke engine of 221cc, whereas UK models featured a 285cc engine, with later versions offering 350cc Blackburne engines and three-speed gearboxes. Renowned for excellent handling and weather protection, the Ner-a-Car ceased production in 1926 due to issues within Sheffield Simplex. This restored example includes a 1939 tax disc, an ASI dating plaque, and Italian registration papers, along with photographs showing it 'as found'.
