Beschreibung

Descended from a line of ultra-high-performance models that originated with the 993 GT2, the track-oriented 997 GT2, introduced in 2007, was the first production 911 with a top speed in excess of 200 mph.

As the ultimate swan song for the 997 range, Porsche Motorsport decided to produce an even more extreme GT2 variant and anoint it with the company’s most famous badge – RS, or Rennsport. The most powerful road-going Porsche to date, the GT2’s twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six engine received new pistons, intercoolers, turbochargers, and an updated engine management system. The RS’s impressive 620 bhp output was sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle specifically developed for the model. Aerodynamic updates included a revised front splitter, rear diffuser, and reshaped side mirrors. Over 150 pounds were shed through the use of a single-mass flywheel, carbon fiber hood, center-lock wheels, and lightweight aluminum components.

Less weight and more power enabled the GT2 RS to reach 0–60 mph in 3.5 seconds, 0–100 mph in 6.8 seconds, and a top speed of 205 mph. Setting a production car record in 2010, the new Porsche lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in just 7 minutes, 18 seconds.

The 997 GT2 RS offered here is the 389th of only 500 produced in total and one of just 142 built for the North American market. Completed by Porsche in December 2010, this car was finished in black over a black full leather interior with deviated yellow stitching to match the calipers on the car’s ceramic composite brakes.

Most notably, this GT2 RS is equipped with carbon fiber front fenders, a rarely seen, $6,840 option that reduced the car’s weight by 20 pounds. The car was also generously optioned with the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system as well as the Sport Chrono, Sound and Interior Carbon Packages. Exclusive Department options, including black painted wheels, clear taillights, aluminum footrest, and deviated stitching, further contributed to this RS’s $271,600 MSRP.

Delivered new to Boardwalk Porsche, the GT2 RS remained in Texas until February 2020, when it was sold to the current owner. Before taking delivery, the consignor had Park Place Porsche of Dallas carry out a complete service, which included changing all fluids, installing new spark plugs, fitting a fresh set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and performing a DME diagnostic test to verify the engine did not have any harmful over-revs. In addition to this service, a full professional detailing was commissioned at a cost of nearly $10,000. This work included a full paint correction, XPEL Ultimate paint protection, and ceramic coating. During the current ownership, the GT2 RS has been driven approximately 1,500 miles, with the odometer showing just 2,600 original miles at the time of cataloguing. In keeping with its superb presentation, this GT2 RS is offered with its original owner’s handbooks, tools, window sticker, spare key, trickle charger, and recent service records.

Given the GT2 RS’s mind-bending performance and unique reputation among road-going 911 models, the opportunity to acquire this ideally specified and beautifully presented example is one not to be missed.
