This Chevrolet Corvette C2 Stingray Convertible totally radiates the feeling of 60’s USA. Larry Shinoda really did the whole world a big favour by designing this wonderful American sports car. From its futuristic looks to the fat side pipes and black paintwork, it is just a perfect fit. This 1966 example is full body-off restoration car. It is a German sourced and restored car and is in magnificent shape. The fibreglass bodywork has very good alignment. The quality of a thorough Chevrolet Corvette restoration is immediately obvious from the way the fibreglass panels fit together. We have seldom seen such precise workmanship as with this example, it exemplifies the dedication to perfection we see throughout. The car has recently been re-sprayed. The black paintwork is in top quality condition and obviously totally blemish-free. All brightwork is new as are the side pipes including the matching manifolds. A new perfectly fitting hood has also been fitted. The same amount of eye for detail has been exercised on the inside, truly a joy to behold. The wonderful wooden teak steering wheel jumps into vision the moment you open the door as do the new black carpets. The dashboard is in top quality condition and all controls and instruments are in correct working order. The seats have headrests (an optional feature at the time) and have been re-upholstered using lovely supple black leather. Driving this car is as much a joy as admiring it is. The complete suspension and brake system has been renewed. It depends a 327 ci (5.35 litre) High Compression V8 engine coupled to a manual 4-speed to get you from A to B. All engine accessories and tubes have been replaced allowing the engine to run perfectly. The transmission works precisely and contributes in no small way to this wonderful Corvette’s pleasurable driving experience. The restoration was carried out by a somewhat ageing gentleman who preferred spanners to administration or photography and as such there is little in the way of documentation. There are a few photos and they confirm the thorough manner the work was carried out that makes this car stand out form the crowd.
