Made recognisable by Bobby Ewing in the TV series Dallas, these W107 Mercedes SL's are just such capable and effortless cars

In the show Bobby Ewing was the gentler younger brother of hard nosed JR and the Mercedes he drove reflected that well, an elegant open top sports tourer in the very same Signal Red colour as ours, albeit ours has rather nicer beige leather upholstery rather than Bob's black interior

Very often a cars storied history is what makes up the body of a description designed to tell the reader all about that car, however in this case it is the lack of story that makes it so great

We have over the years sold many SL Mercedes of this era and really like the cars. Not only for their fine quality, style & reliable nature but their incredible built quality & resulting durability

It is very special then to have found one with a mere 2000 miles from new, the car has been stored in doors her whole life and her condition is as you would expect, perfect

In fact the condition of everything from the paint, to the leather, the engine bay, hard top & soft top, instruments, spare wheel, tools, even the still plastic wrapped first aid kit is so good that one could go so far as to describe the car as NEW OLD STOCK

There really can't be a better example available anywhere as not only is she in such fantastic condition but she was ordered new with a complete top spec

The retail price for Mercedes's modern equivalent 3.0 litre SL (now inexplicably called the 400) is £80,560 and that's before you've personalised the spec

It's therefore nothing short of incredible that for the same kind of money you can have the much more desirable 1980's version, which for normal use is actually just as practical and probably more comfortable - no low profile tyres ruining the ride etc

The car drives like brand new and the manual hood operates with such ease you and your passenger can do it in a

matter of moments with no sticky locks or perished rubbers hindering your progress

All in all a splendid car and opportunity for one lucky chap or lady
