"One of the last Astons to be handbuilt at Newport Pagnell. No other car of the 1990s could propel its drivers and passengers with such speed and in such comfort as the Aston Martin V550. Continuing from the Virage, only the roof and doors were carried over with the name V550 used to signify the power that saw the car surge to a blistering speed of 186mph and passing 60mph in just 4.6 seconds. The 5340cc V8 was fitted with not one, but twin Eaton superchargers that altogether produced 550bhp and 550lb ft of torque. To put it into perceptive, that is almost on par with a Lamborghini Diablo or Ferrari 550 Maranello. To stop such a powerful car, the V550 was fitted with 362mm diameter ventilated discs and four piston AP Racing calipers fitted to the front of the car which are the largest front disc and calipers to any production car at the time.
We are delighted to offer this extremely rare example of the ‘British bulldog’, the 1994 Aston Martin V550 Coupé. Finished in Suffolk Red with swathes of Magnolia hide piped in red, Bordeaux carpeting with contrasting red dashtop and rear shelf. These cars are generously equipped for the time, with full electric heated seats, richly veneered dashboard and door tops couple to a fully adjustable steering column. This example is particularly rare as it was converted, in period, by Aston Martin Works Service, to automatic transmission and therefore makes for a supremely comfortable and easy car to live with. A car that until our vendor purchased in 2016 presided with the Carway family, initially with the father until registered with his son and which has covered just 14,700 miles from new and accompanied by a full history from Aston Martin Works, this is the last of the true gentleman’s express and attractively estimated for such a rare and collectable Aston.
