"The first Aston Martin to be engineered at Newport Pagnell following the company’s departure from Feltham in 1964, the DB6 was launched at the Earls Court Motor Show in October 1965, just one month after production had started. The model ran until July 1969 with a total of 1,327 saloons built before the Mk. II version arrived. Refined from the previous DB4/DB5, this model change involved more structural engineering rather than mechanical, as Aston Martin realised market appeal sought larger rear seat space. Increased wheelbase was achieved with an additional four inches inserted ahead of the rear arches and combined with a two inch increase to the roof line, the DB6 gained capacity for a comfortable rear seat. A ‘Superleggera’ Grand Tourer for the family man was introduced that offered 60mph in seven seconds whilst luxuriating in Connolly leather and Wilton carpeting. The 60’s DB6 driver also benefitted from electric windows and in-car suspension adjustment courtesy of the Armstrong Selectaride system. Visually, a split front bumper offered intake for the large oil cooler whilst the rear became instantly recognisable with an aero-efficient ‘Kamm tail’ which featured a small upswept spoiler reducing lift. This sublime original manual gearbox, matching numbers model is presented in Pacific Blue paintwork which is glass like to the touch, tan leather interior showing nice patina, and with the added benefit of having electric power steering and post factory fitted air conditioning, thus creating the perfect classic for modern driving. The period speaker folds down to reveal a modern radio and Bluetooth telephone facility which is essential for current driving. The impressive history folder reveals many invoices from Trinity Engineering and Vantage Engineering showing that around £300,000 has been spent since 2014. It would be relevant to note that in December 2014 the present owner had a slight ‘deviation’ from the main road, swerving an oncoming vehicle and ending up unceremoniously in a ditch. There was some subsequent damage as a result but not classified as a  ‘write off’ and Trinity Engineering carried out the repairs which was quoted at £95,000 plus parts (all invoices and letters relevant to this can be found in the history file). At the same time as this work was carried out, the owner decided to restore the Aston which seemed the logical decision at the time. Extensive work was therefore commenced and more recently Vantage Engineering carried out mechanical works on the car to bring the engine up to the fabulous condition that it is in today (all invoices in the history file). The car drives superbly with the straight six engine crisp and ‘on the button’ as one would expect. This is probably one of the best examples of the marque available today and certainly one of the finest we have had the pleasure to offer for sale. Having been shown at the Salon Privé in 2018, this head turner of a DB6 in its beautiful livery has to be seen to be appreciated and would grace any collection or bring enjoyment out on the open road as it was originally intended."
