Driving an Alfa Romeo Spider is typically the kind of car you never ever get enough of. This divine Italian roadster has great driving characteristics and a wonderful engine. This car comes in an ivory coloured external finish with a red and black vinyl interior trim. In 1974 the car was supplied from new by Beverley Hills based Alfa Romeo dealership in California and only has 38.000 miles on the odometer. The car still has the same colour scheme it came with originally. At the time the American market Alfa Romeo Spider version was already well decked out with disc brakes on all fours, fuel injection, a wooden steering wheel, electric clock, fog lights and a rear anti-roll bar. As icing on the cake first owner also added the popular slip-differential choice. In 1978 after four years he sold the car on to the previous owner. He kept the car for no less than 41 years! You can only keep a car that long when you take a lot of loving care and attention looking after it, as was the case with this car. This extensively documented car is in good condition both to look at as well as under the bonnet. The documentation file contains a copy of the original sticker and original bill of sale, the original owner’s manual, a pile of invoices and a number of technical manuals. The bodywork is very neat. The panelwork is nice and thin and correctly aligned. The paintwork is in fine condition with minor signs of use as are the alloy rims. The car’s interior is in a wonderful original condition. The upholstery and rubber mats both look fine. All switches and instruments are also in great working order. The hood is in good shape, easy to use and shuts securely. As you can gather from the accompanying documentation the mechanical aspects have also been very well tendered to. The engine runs marvellously and thanks to the fuel injection produces a satisfying amount of oomph, it is also the original engine making this a matching numbers car. The manual 5-speed gearbox is precise and certainly adds to this open-top Italian sports car's driving pleasure. Maybe it is pie in the sky to believe that you, as the new owner, will also keep the car for the next 41 years, it should not however prove to be a problem considering the car’s cherished condition. We rarely see such extensive documentation, such provenance with such a lovely finish. Are you soon going to be able to admire her every day?
