Specific to the 'S' model was a re-profiled camshaft, larger valves, better porting, higher compression and larger jets for the Weber carburettors. The S version was now producing 180bhp and the model was well underway inestablishing Porsche as a world leader in the production of sports cars and motorsport. From club racers to World Championships the 911 would become an integral part. The 911S providedthe basic underpinnings of the 911 2.7 RS; a platform that would provide successes at the Targa Floria, Daytona, Sebring, and the Nurburgring all by the mid-Seventies.Finished in the rarest and very period colour of Grey White (Weissgrau) with a black interior, this beautiful 911 2.2S has been restored to a very high standard. It was originally supplied new in Germany by Porsche dealer, Gottfried Schultz, where it remained until the 1990s when it was purchased by a Dutch collector. The restoration, at some stage, included the replacement of the engine case of the correct type 911/02, signifying a 1970/71 2.2S. It's also stamped AT' which indicates it is a factory replacement and bears the engine no. 6302110 which is confirmed as the original matching engine number. The factory also confirms that it had the following options; limited-slip differential, electric windows and tinted glass. It was imported into the UK in 2005, registered on the 14/06/2005 and was sold to the current owner by Silverstone Auctions in 2015.The car has been in our vendors private collection, garaged together with some significant Porsches and Jaguars, and used occasionally for fair weather outings. The history file contains receipts of maintenance works by various UK Porsche specialists and shows evidence of its earlier history. Presented to auction freshly serviced by marque specialists Davie Griffiths Racing, an odometer reading of some 32,106km and an MOT valid until October 2021.You can book an appointment (up to one hour) to view this lot at our central location at Hall 1, NAEC Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, CV8 2LG Monday to Friday between the 1st and 12th November.
