UK-supplied on the 10/03/1992 through Menzies BMW of StirlingFinished in gleaming Alpine White with unmarked black and grey cloth upholstery54,654 miles (atoc) corroborated by a comprehensive and fully detailed service historyDick Lovett in Swindon were commissioned in 2012 to cosmetically return the car to perfect conditionStripped to bare metal with doors, bonnet, engine, gearbox and boot removed and repaintedby the approved BMW body shop with a detailed photographic recordThe car remains in extraordinary condition, both inside and out, and is undoubtedly a contender for best of breedOur vendor has owned, raced and sold multiple E30 M3s over 30 years and this example is the one he chose to add to his collection. Simply exceptionalThis lot is to be sold as part of a collection (see lot 208). If the collection is not sold thisvehicle will be offered as a separate lotThe BMW M3 was a revolution for the manufacturer when launched in 1986 as it was the first saloon car to be totally designed around winning in European and global Touring Car Racing. From the 50/50 weight distribution, the wider wheels arches through to the close-ratio gearbox and limited-slip differential - not to mention the now-famous, 4- cylinder 16valve high-revving double overhead camshaft power unit - everything was optimised for performance. It was a true 'homologation special' in every sense of the words and allowed BMW to be competitive from day 1 in all domestic Touring Car series throughout the world. It was a global winning formula on road and track. Here in the UK, the M3 wasalso successful on the track, but more limited in the showroom, as all cars were left-hand drive and at 26,000 ~ not a cheap shout. A Ferrari 328 was not much more expensive at the time so it took a salesman of exceptional ability (ahem!) to sell the cars in the UK. The top salesman for BMW UK in 'M-cars' for threeyears running was Silverstone Auctions' MD, and ex-BMW main dealer, Nick Whale and he collectedhis award from the 'Motorsport' factory in Munich (which in those days was a different building and a different company to the main factory) where all M BMW saloons and sports cars were still hand-built.He used one as an everyday road car and also raced them extensively in his spare time, winning the Uniroyal British Production saloon car championship in 1989 and subsequently went on torace them in the British Touring Car Championship in 1990 and 1991.This particular car is a UK-supplied car that was delivered on the 10th March 1992 through Menzies BMW of Stirling in Scotland, finished in Alpine White with black and grey cloth upholstery. Today it has covered just 55,000 miles and both the comprehensive service history (unusually still fully detailed in the original service book and hand pack) and MOT history confirm the mileage as genuine. The fastidious owner back in 2012 wanted the car as near perfect as possible sohe commissioned main dealer Dick Lovett in Swindon and the car was stripped to bare metal with doors, bonnet, engine and gearbox and boot removed and repainted in 2012 by the approved BMW body shop with a detailed photographic recordincluded in the accompanying history file. The interior also presents in extraordinary condition today with no visible marks or wear on the front and rear seats or the full carpet set. Equally the dashboard, instrumentation, gearstick and pedals are original but completely unmarked and the car is a real timewarp, both inside and out. It drives superbly, just as it did originally, and that was what attracted Silverstone Auctions' owner, Nick, to buy the car when he discovered it at a customer's and keep it as 'Best of Breed' inhis personal collection.Offered to the open market for the first time since then, the car is ready to use and enjoy today with all modern conveniences like ABS brakes, electric windows and a sunshine roof ~ but still with that classic 1980s driving experience from that perfectly weighted power steering, perfect dog-leg 5-speed gearbox and willing 4-cylinder BMW Motorsport 2.3 engine that can only be found in an original E30 BMW M3. And the noise, that induction noise unique to the M3, still sounds as good today as ever it did. Buy it now before Nick changes his mind! You can now book a one-to-one appointment (up to one hour) to view this lot at our central location of Stoneleigh Park (CV8 2LG) Monday to Friday, between Thursday 29th October 12th November. Please contact Nick on 07831 440 158 or [email protected] secure your appointment or to discuss the car in more detail. The health & safety of both our customers and team remainthe utmost priority, we are therefore operating to strict COVID-19 guidelines and full instructions for arrival and inspection protocols will be given when making your appointment.1992 BMW M3 (E30)*https://youtu.be/krLmY2DVg9Qfalse
