"This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HY
Unveiled at the 1958 London Motor Show the DB4 Aston Martin was a totally new and thoroughly modern motor car and proved to be a significant achievement for the small British manufacturer. The coachwork utilised the vaunted Carrozzeria Touring process, in which a skeleton of small-diameter steel tubing supported the all-alloy body panelling, which created a very light yet rigid structure. Although styled by Touring, the DB4’s sleek fastback body was actually produced by Aston’s own highly skilled panel beaters in Newport Pagnell. This is a lovely usable older restoration which presents well today from long term family ownership. Sold new by Brooklands London Aston Martin on the 1st April 1961 and originally finished in California Sage Green over Red Connolly Leather. DB4/555R was delivered new to first owner S.H Barnett of Checkendon Court, Oxfordshire. Early records show that optional heated rear lights and wing mirrors were factory fitted and a 2,000 mile service was completed in May 1961. Unfortunately in November that year, with the car less than a year old, she suffered accident damage which led to a full restoration at a later date. Later sold by Brooklands of Bexley, Kent in November 1986 to the most recent vendor and avid motor car collector. During this ownership the DB4 has undergone various cosmetic and mechanical work. In 2003 it was treated to a refinish to the paintwork from Green to the distinct Snow Shadow Grey. Further work was completed by respected marque specialists Pugsley & Lewis in 2006 where a comprehensive recommissioning was undertaken including a 5,000 mile service, a brake and suspension overhaul and four new period Michelin tyres totalling to a cost of £10,000. This matching numbers example still retains its body tag and presents in very original order. The paintwork shows little sign of age and the interior is well presented with a nice patina. Mechanically the DB4 is sound, the engine is strong and in good driving condition. Showing just 73,169 miles on the odometer this wonderful and original example sits proudly on the correct 16” wire wheels and comes complete with a comprehensive history file including an original DB4 instruction book and factory build sheet. Mechanically on the button this cherished example is ready to be enjoyed by a new custodian after 33 years of single family ownership.
The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
