Ferrari unveiled the new Testarossa at the 1984 Paris Motor Show marking the end of production of the Boxer, the car that had been the flagship 12-cylinder Ferrari model for the previous ten years. Styled by Pininfarina, the Testarossa paid homage to the great 1950’s sports racer that originally bore the name, simply translating as 'Red Head'; the rocker covers being painted red. The mid-engine, rear wheel drive configuration allowed the centre of gravity to be positioned in the middle of the car, with a weight distribution ratio of 40% front and 60% rear, thus achieving excellent cornering and road holding ability. The Testarossa was produced with 16'' five-spoke 'Star' alloy wheels and disc brakes fitted all round; with 309mm discs at the front and 310mm discs at the rear. The Testarossa was larger than its Boxer predecessor; six inches wider and some 2½ inches longer which allowed more leg room. In addition, the temperature inside the cockpit was reduced as twin radiators were mounted in the rear; unlike the Boxer, where the single front mounted radiator had plumbing from the bonnet to the engine behind the seats, which made the cabin very hot, especially on a warm day. The distinctive side vents were as useful as they were visually striking, allowing excellent engine ventilation, whilst contributing to the car’s unique styling.
Originally registered on 28th April 1987, this lefthand drive Testarossa presents in excellent order throughout. The Rossa Corsa paintwork is unblemished as is the black leather interior. Originally sold by Deerfield Beach Ferrari in Florida, this example covered very low mileage until its export in 2018. In 2019 the engine was removed for the required cambelt service and then subsequently rebuilt due to ageing oil seals, we are informed with at no expense spared philosophy. To be expected of such a high-profile sports car, the engine sounds magnificent, so no requirement for the original Alpine sound system offering the perfect 1980's environment.
This early Testarossa has the desirable centre lock wheels and round chassis. The history file provides a Carfax history printout, stating the mileage throughout its time in the United States culminating in 13,000 miles in 2001, since then we are informed the car has been dry stored and used sparingly. Supplied with a United States Certificate of Title and NOVA certificate combined with a UK MoT test certificate and leather-bound pouch with owner’s manual, UK service history and dealer directory.
This low mileage example that looks splendid in its Rosso Corsa paintwork and is one of the most iconic Ferrari’s of the period. This delightful example is more visceral and far more desirable than its later siblings, surely one of the best investment Ferrari's available today.

The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
