"The Alfa Romeo Spider was manufactured from 1966 to 1993 and is widely regarded as a design classic, remaining in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The first three series were assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco with the fourth series in San Giorgio Canavese; this was the last rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo. The Spider underwent a major styling revamp in 1983 and the final Spider series arrived in 1990 which included Bosch Motronic electronic fuel injection, full-width body-coloured plastic bumper fascias, an electric cooling fan and rear lights across the width of the boot, on-board diagnostics and an optional automatic transmission.
This lovely 2.0 litre example is presented with black coachwork and contrasting biscuit trim and is in good condition throughout. The car's hood is black, was replaced in 2012 and operates manually. This great iconic sports car was built in Germany and exported to the UK in 2001 when it was converted to righthand drive, since then the owners have lavished much expense on this car and thus it presents extremely well. Our vendor, who acquired the car in 2010, has a host of invoices from specialists such as Classic Alfa, a date line of works from 2010 to 2019 which includes rear trailing arms bushes, new exhaust, clutch and slave cylinder in 2014 along with a brake overhaul. In 2016, classic specialist Automo saw to any bodywork blemishes and recently fitted new anti-roll bars bushes, Alfaholics suspension and a new battery. Unfortunately, due to ill health, our vendor can no longer drive and, although he would dearly like to keep the car, he has to part with it. Accompanying the car is a current MoT test certificate which is valid until June 2020, two keys and the owner's manual. These sports cars are fun to drive and with the top down, they really come into their own."
