Beschreibung

"The Alfa Romeo Giulietta launched at the 1954 Turin Motor Show. The pretty little coupé was powered by the jewel-like, all alloy 1290cc twin overhead cam engine that incorporated hemispherical combustion chambers and domed pistons. The engine was mated to an alloy cased four speed gearbox. The performance and styling was a revelation for a production car in 1954 and many were campaigned in major motorsport events very successfully in their day. In 1955, the Berlina (saloon) was introduced with similar mechanical specifications and 1960 brought a new series new ('101') Giulietta, incorporating many upgrades. Giulietta production in coupé, spider and berlina forms ceased in 1965. The Berlina Ti models ('Turismo Internazionale') was the luxury model of the range with righthand drive examples of the Ti being the rarest of the production saloons.
This very rare original factory righthand drive 1961 Giulietta Ti was renovated by Benalfa Cars in 2010 as part of a determined project to be competitive in the European Historic Racing circuit. The engine was changed to a period 1500cc Alfa Romeo unit, rebuilt with forged pistons & rods, rally cams, alloy crank pulley, competition valve springs, hard valve seats, electronic fuel pump, twin Weber DCOEs, Petronic optical points distributor, limited slip differential, five-speed gearbox and a host of other performance enhancements. The Alfa is fitted with obligatory fire apparatus, roll-cage and Securon safety harnesses. The history file contains receipts in excess of £28,000 invested in recent years on keeping the cars performance at the top end of its class capability and excludes all other racing expenses and consumables. Included in this cars many attendances are the Monte-Carlo Historique Rally each year between 2011 - 2018, Le Jog and XIII Rally Costa Brava all piloted by the one registered UK keeper shown on the V5. Make no mistake; these little Alfa Berlinas are a revelation in performance and drivability. Whilst the car is carrying a few external scars, offered at no reserve, this represents an exciting opportunity to step into the historic racing fold with so much of the work done already in getting the car to be consistently competitive, while still satisfying European circuit scrutineering."
