Beschreibung

"Maserati followed up its stunning Ghia-styled Ghibli two-seater with the equally elegant Indy 2+2, though the latter, announced in 1968 and noteworthy as the first unitary construction Maserati, was the work of Carrozzeria Vignale. The Indy first appeared publicly in prototype form on Vignale's stand at the 1968 Turin Motor Show and was officially launched by Maserati at the Geneva Salon in 1969. The running gear was conventional, with independent front suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, while the power unit was, initially, the Modena firm's well-tried, 4136cc, four-cam V8, with 4.7 and 4.9 litre versions following. A ZF five-speed manual gearbox was standard, with a three-speed Borg Warner automatic available to special order. With 260bhp on tap, the top speed of Maserati's luxury four-seater was in the region of 150mph, a figure the subsequent larger-engined versions improved upon. The sleek Vignale coachwork was so effective that the Indy was able to carry four people in relative comfort without impairing its performance as a sports car.
This handsome Maserati is finished in Celeste Blue with black leather trim and is in delightful condition. This example had a full body restoration in 2001, for which the invoice is found within the history file and accompanied by a photographic record, the quality is reflected in the car to this day. A 4.7 litre example first registered in February 1971, this matching numbers, righthand drive example has been privately owned for the past eight years. In this time our vendor has continued with a very good level of maintenance, including £11,000 spent with F-Tech engineering last year and continued invoices from Auto Shield in Manchester, who had cared for the car previously. Also presented within the history file are previous MoT test certificates, a copy of the workshop manual and a V5 registration document. The engine has the familiar tone of an Italian classic V8, a true four-seater sports car, this 2+2 coupé is a great opportunity to own a true Italian classic and with around 50 righthand drive, 4.7 litre examples produced, you will be a member of a rather exclusive club!"
