Beschreibung

1966 Lotus Ford Cortina Mk1
Lotus Type 28/IV
Chassis # BA74FL59076
Motor # LP5565L

We are pleased to offer this 1966 Lotus Cortina for sale. This is a very rare car with just 660 left-hand drive cars built and only 160 originally delivered to the North American market. This is a genuine Lotus Cortina that we have had verified as authentic by Mark Kempson of lotuscortinainfo.com. The body number 436 LHD 223 identifies this as the 223rd left-hand drive car built. The engine is correct and has engine number LP5565L. This has been a California car all its life and has lived in the San Francisco Bay area for a majority of that time. The car does come with its original black-and-gold license plate that it wore until recently when the car was sold and registered with a new plate. The body is fantastic showing no accident damage or rust. All the panel gaps are consistent and there are no dents or scratches.
The previous owner had the car in a large collection in the San Francisco area for over 30 years. The exterior appears to have been painted years ago and the paint work is still in excellent condition overall. The trunk is original with the proper Lotus hump in the floor above the axle. Period Mini-lite wheels are mounted with new Pirelli Cinturato 185/70Rx13 tires. The odometer shows 77,900 miles which appears to be correct based on documentation and the overall condition of the car.
This Lotus has been well cared for with service records back to 1990. Recent work includes a full service and tune with compression readings of 200psi/cylinder. We recently removed the front struts and replaced the upper strut mount bushings; rebuilt both lower ball joints; tightened the rear suspension points; reworked the shift linkage and throttle cable; replaced the front brake hoses and bled the brakes.
The Lotus has been enjoyed on a number of short rallies in the Santa Barbara area and is totally sorted.
