For race track validation, Porsche created in 1972 the RennSport series which is a complete 911 ready to race without having to do some modifications. For the model year 1999 Porsche launched the brand new 996 GT3. A completely new breed of sports car, lighter, sportier with an incredibly sharp chassis ready to be used around a race circuit. The engine is tuned to race specifications, using the Mezger flat 6 seen before on the very exclusive GT1, the gear box is the realiable G96/90 6 speed manual. The brand new 996 is the first Porsche using a water-cooled system. The engine develops the striking power of 360 hp at a very high rev of 7200 rpm. 0 to 100 km/h is reached in just under 5 seconds and top speed is 300 km/h! The car is lowered for better aerodynamics, the front suspension is tunable, and the result is an incredible road legal race car. In 1999 the GT3 is already a success and became straight away a collector car, today a rarity in good condition.

The GT3 we are presenting in our sale was sold new in Germany by Porsche Zentrum Aachen in September 1999. Having today a little bit more than 58000 km on the counter, this rare version of a 911 was ordered new with an interesting list of options such as the air con (code 573) the Porsche audio system CDR 22 (code 695) the CD’s compartment (code 424) or the in board computer (code 659), the color is the beautiful Arctique Grey with an added RSR body kit giving a very aggressive look especially with the Sport Design 18” wheels. The carbon fiber wheels, the specific front bumper and the huge back wing are part of the Aero cup body kit. On board, the atmosphere is very much the one of a race car. We can find a roll cage, Recaro race seats with fire proofed fabric and a six-point harness and the detachable steering wheel. Serviced by Porsche, this 996 GT3 got a valuation by the Cabinet LB expertises in Lille for 80.000 euros.
Rare to be seen for sale, this beautiful GT3 is a great mix of competition spirit and a touch of comfort with an interesting list of options.
