Historie:

Mini ist die Bezeichnung eines Pkw-Modells, das ursprünglich von Sommer 1959 bis Herbst 2000 von der British Motor Corporation (BMC), dem Zusammenschluss der Austin Motor Company mit der Morris Motor Company, bzw. den durch weitere Zusammenschlüsse entstandenen Nachfolgefirmen British Leyland und Rover sowie von Lizenzpartnern (wie zum Beispiel Innocenti (Italien), Authi (Spanien) und IMA (Portugal)) gebaut wurde. Sein Frontantrieb und der quer eingebaute Vierzylindermotor in Verbindung mit der neuartigen Kompaktkarosserie machten ihn zu einem Meilenstein in der Entwicklungsgeschichte des Automobils. Die fortschrittliche Konzeption wurde von anderen Autoherstellern erst Jahre später schrittweise aufgegriffen, so z.B. die Hydrolastic-Gummifederung (Niveauausgleich), welche wegen des als Frostschutz beigemischten Alkohols auch den Spottnamen „Whisky-Soda-Federung“ bekam.

Der hier zum Verkauf angebotene Morris Cooper ist aus dem Jahr 1966 und trägt die Bezeichnung Mk1. Die Merkmale der ersten Variante (Mk1), welcher von 1959 bis 1967 gebaut wurde, sind die außenliegenden Türscharniere, kleines Heckfenster, kleine und abgerundete Heckleuchten sowie der markante „Schnurbart-Grill“.

Dieser Morris Cooper wurde vollständig zerlegt und restauriert. Der original linksgelenkte Cooper wurde vor zwei Jahren in Portugal gekauft und ausschließend selten bewegt. Es wurde eine große Wartung durchgeführt und das Fahrzeug für die kommende Saison perfekt vorbereitet.

History:

„Mini“ is the name of a today legendary vehicle built originally by the British Motor Corporation (BMC), a consortium consisting of the Austin Motor Company and the Morris Motor Company, later also from their successors British Leyland and Rover, as well as from licence holders Innocenti (Italy), Authi (Spain) and IMA (Portugal), from summer 1959 until autumn 2000. The Mini’s front-wheel drive and the transverse 4-Cylinder engine, in combination with the back then revolutionary compact autobody, made the car a mile stone in modern automobile design and development. Other brands needed years to pick-up these far advanced technological concepts, such as the hydrolastic (levelling or „wet“) suspension, which, due to its added anti-freeze, was also known as „Whisky-Soda-suspension“.

This Morris Cooper offered here is a Mk.I built in 1966. Typical for this first model of Minis, produced from 1959 to1967, are the outside door hinges, the small back window, small and rounded down back lights as well as the dominant „grille moustache“.

The car has been completly dismantled and restored. The original left-hand driver Cooper was purchased in Portugal two years ago (2016) and has not been moved a lot since then. A periodic and preventive maintenance took place and the car is good to go for the up coming season.
