Beschreibung

"Introduced in 3.8 litre form in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type caused a sensation when it appeared with instantly classic lines and 150mph top speed. While, inevitably, the car's stupendous straight-line performance and gorgeous looks grabbed the headlines, there was a lot more to the E-Type beneath the skin. The newcomer's design owed much to that of the racing D-Type and, indeed, the E-Type would be one of the last great sports cars developed directly from a successful competition ancestor. Just as in the D-Type, a monocoque tub formed the main body/chassis structure while a tubular space frame extended forwards to support the engine. As the E-Type evolved so did customers needs, Jaguar had developed the twelve-cylinder engine to power the new series III with sufficient torque and refinement. Larger and softer in nature with weight redistributed 53/47, and the Series III had lost the wilds of its youth but gained the long-legged touring profile to which it was arguably better suited, a very smooth, quiet and refined grand touring sports car.
This brilliant red with black Jaguar E-Type was originally sold to British Leyland, New York and dispatched on 25th October 1972. A fully matching numbers example, this E-Type is a real driver’s example with the combination of top down, V12 power and an automatic transmission for those cross Europe jaunts we all dream of. Between 2015 and 2017 over $46,000 was spent by the owner in restoring both cosmetics and a mechanical overhaul which included a rebuilt automatic transmission, overhauled fuel system and differential, the Stromberg carburettors were rebuilt and synchronized, valve cover gaskets replaced and engine ignition system updated. Further upgrades included aluminium XKE specific radiator and fan and coupled importantly to rebuilt disc brakes including master cylinder and booster with the power steering rack rebuilt. The list of works is comprehensive and inspires the utmost confidence with the current owner confessing to absolutely love driving this roadster. His plan was to create the perfect car for driving on the continent and having been recently serviced, with operational air conditioning, a rebuilt automatic transmission and the more modern V12 Series III upgrades sitting on newer Michelin Radials, this E-Type is perfect for top-down motoring to the South of France or through the Alps. The car comes with the V5 registration document, MoT certificate, a vast amount of restoration invoices detailing the work carried out, Heritage Certificate and ownership history dating back to the early 1980's.  The Series III derivative of the E-Type is becoming ever more popular due to the sheer drivability it offers and this is one of the best driver’s examples available on the market.
