Beschreibung

For 1996, Porsche offered an updated interpretation of its popular Targa model, which had been out of production since the 993’s introduction in 1994. The new Targa used a sliding-glass roof panel that slid backward to cover the rear window, offering the driver and passenger an open-air experience while retaining similar rigidity and styling to the coupe.

The final model year for Porsche’s original air-cooled 911 design arrived in 1998, and, consequently, cars from this year are highly prized by collectors. According to a CARFAX Vehicle History Report and service records, this lovely 993 Targa was delivered new in North Carolina to its first owner, Kenneth Oettinger of Chapel Hill. The car had two subsequent owners, in Texas and Massachusetts, before being purchased by the consignor in 2015.

This Targa showed less than 23,000 miles at the time of cataloguing and is believed to be one of just 122 examples built for the US market in 1998. Of those, only 22 are thought to have been equipped with a manual gearbox, making this 911 among the rarest 1998 variants available. Whether bought for its attributes as a collectible or the impeccable driving experience for which the 993 is renowned, this Targa promises to please its next owner.
