Beschreibung

Celebrating the end of the first generation of the air-cooled 911 production, Porsche introduced the 911 Carrera Speedster in 1989, which featured a raked, cut-down windshield, a thin fabric manual folding top, wind-up windows, and a twin “camel hump” fiberglass shell in the rear.

This Speedster was delivered to its first owner through Anderson-Behel Porsche in San Jose, California, in December 1989, the consignor noting that the dealership took tourist delivery in Europe, added approximately 1,000 miles, then sold it in the US. The first owner purchased the car as an investment, only adding five miles before putting it in storage, where it remained until purchased by the consignor in early 2018. Finished in its uncommon and striking Triple Black color combination, the numerous additional options listed on its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity included air-conditioning and a shorter gearshift lever.

The Speedster displayed just 1,017 miles at the time of cataloguing, the consignor noting it still retains Cosmoline on its undercarriage. Recently serviced by specialist Don Wise’s Autowerks in Campbell, California, the consignor states that the only non-original items on the car are service items such as its battery, hood shocks, and fuel pump. The Porsche is accompanied by an owner’s manual, tools, jack, and a letter signed by the first owner regarding the car’s low mileage, along with its original California license plates still in their original envelope. For anyone seeking a collector-quality 1989 Speedster, this example merits close scrutiny.
