Beschreibung

A spiritual descendent of the famed 1973 Carrera RS 2.7, the 996 GT3 introduced in 1999 continued the Porsche tradition of producing lightweight, performance-oriented 911s that were equally at home on the track or on the road.

Developed to homologate the 911 GT3 R and RSR race cars for international competition, the GT3 was not available to Porsche enthusiasts in North America until 2004, and about a thousand 996 GT3s were made for that market. These cars featured the legendary Hans Mezger-designed flat-six engine descended from Porshe’s endurance racing efforts.

According to the consignor’s research, this example is believed to be one of fewer than 25 examples finished in special-order Midnight Blue Metallic, and one of fewer than 25 with a Natural Brown leather interior. The Porsche remains in well-preserved condition and has had recent service and cosmetic detail work done, in anticipation of the sale.

Accompanied by a CARFAX Vehicle History Report and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this GT3 displays less than 9,200 miles on the odometer and is presented in exemplary condition. For the collector, the acquisition of this example offers the increasingly rare opportunity to purchase a low-mileage GT3 in a rare and desirable specification.
