Guide price: £30000 - £36000.

Finished in the beautiful period colour combination of Aqua Turquoise over white

Has been fettled by world-renowned Thunderbird restorer Amos Minter

Very desirable 2-seater soft-top with a manual gearbox and overdrive

Supplied with a NOVA reference number for a future buyer to begin the UK registration process

The Thunderbird was Ford's response to General Motors and their Chevrolet Corvette. When introduced in 1955 it outsold the more expensive Corvette by 24:1 as a direct result of its clean styling, creature comforts and V8 refinement. Now rightly becoming recognised as a "blue oval icon" the model now features in many serious and noted collections.

We are pleased to offer this beautiful 1955 Ford Thunderbird in possibly the most stunning period colour of Aqua Turquoise, a colour that was offered on these models between 1955 – 1957 only. Originally sold new in Los Angeles, California, the car spent a short stint in Iowa before passing through the hands of world-renowned Ford Thunderbird restorer Amos Minter, who subsequently sold the car to a high court judge in Los Angeles.

Whilst at Minters Thunderbirds, the car was retrimmed both bumpers were re-chromed as was the side chrome and the horn ring and bullet style chrome centre, (a really nice unique period feature only ever fitted to the ‘55 Ford Thunderbird). It has a new white soft top fitted and the hood frames have been renewed or restored. Newly fitted white-wall tyres were fitted in 2011 to maintain its look as a fifties American Classic. According to Minters the underside has never been undercoated, a beautifully solid and rust free frame - only painted black in the vulnerable areas for protection. It still retains it Aqua Turquoise paint from the factory over the rear axle. Minters also confirmed that the engine has most likely been rebuilt over the years, but that it is fitted with the correct 292 cu. in. V8-4 BBL engine mated to a rare and desirable manual transmission with overdrive. Other nice features include; a bespoke tonneau cover, new seatbelts, a battery cut-off switch, a 12 Volt battery conversion, four-way power seats, and telescopic steering.

Ford only made the two-seater sports model for the first three years from ‘55-‘57, and hence they are known as the ‘Little Birds’, all convertibles, some with hard tops some with soft tops, like the lovely example offered here.

Supplied with a NOVA reference number to enable a prospective buyer to start the UK registration process, this stunning T-Bird is now showing just 34,000 miles on the odometer. Examples in super condition such as this rarely come to market in the UK and we urge you to don your leather jacket and sunglasses and ride off in one of the best T-birds currently on the market!
