Beschreibung

"1962 saw the introduction of the Bentley S3 factory bodied standard steel saloon; the last Bentley to be built on a separate chassis and, at first glance, it would appear that the all new S3 was merely an S2 with different headlamps. The introduction of the twin headlamps was clearly the most obvious change but the differences did not end there. Further changes included the introduction of smaller bumper overriders and the repositioning of the front indicators and side lamps into one single unit on the front wing resulting in a more attractive appearance. The S3's interior now had individual front seats in place of the split bench seat found in the earlier S-Types and some had air conditioning, electric windows and front seat belts fitted. Mechanically speaking the S3 was the same as the S2 with a 6230cc Rolls-Royce V8 engine and automatic gearbox but this model was fitted with larger carburettors, improved power steering to aid smoother movement at parking speed and a Lucas vacuum-advance distributor to aid fuel consumption making it almost identical in mechanical specification to the S3 Continental that was being produced at the same time.
This very original 1963 Bentley S3 saloon has been in the same family since new, father and son. Supplied by Jack Barclay Ltd in June 1963 it remained in the father’s ownership until 1989 when it passed to the son. Since being in his ownership the car has always been fully maintained and from the old MoT certificates the car has only covered 12,000 miles from 1994 to today. In 2002 the bodywork was restored with any rust in the sills and wings removed and the panels repaired and repainted. From 2010 this S3 has been fully maintained, with no expense spared, by Rolls-Royce specialists Chelsea Workshop who are based in the London SW6 area, and who have recently carried out a service on the car and report that it runs and drives very well. Finished in Masons Black with the original beige Connolly hide interior this Bentley S3 is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in June 2019, a file containing the old registration documents, invoices and MoT test certificates going back to 1992. The car also comes with both sets of the keys and the original hand book. Here is a fantastic opportunity to buy one of the best, post war, factory-built Bentleys that can be used as a continental cruiser or as an ‘everyday motor car’."
