"The iconic Land Rover Series I, II, and III (commonly referred to as 'Series' Land Rovers, to distinguish them from later models) are off-road vehicles produced by the British manufacturer, Land Rover. Land Rover claim that 70% of the vehicles ever made are still in use today, a claim first made in their 1992 brochure and repeated many times since. This is a brave claim for any motor manufacturer but judging by the mechanical efficiency of this 1982 example, one that we would be reluctant to refute.
This fantastically original 1982 Series III was originally supplied to Land Rover UK Ltd, Solihull in May 1982 and used as a demonstrator until it was sold to its first keeper, a Mr. Bourne from Toot Baldon. Mr Bourne remained the keeper until 2017 and as such for a Land Rover it has covered very few miles, now with just 55,148 from new and with its second owner. Between 1998 and 2017, YDU 166X was dry stored and declared SORN having seen little or no use. It was fully recommissioned ready for a new owner in 2017 and has been used sparingly by its current owner ever since. Boasting original safari top and wheels, this example has not been cannibalised like so many and holds a lovely patina just as any self-respecting Series III should.
