Beschreibung

The venerable Porsche 944, with its aggressively designed boxed fenders, impressive performance, and approachable price point, was, in its day, the company’s most successful retail model. US shores received almost 57,000 examples, just over half of total standard 944 production.

The 944 offered here has led quite a sheltered life. Sold new to Dwayne Brown of Nebraska, the Porsche had been driven just 2,100 miles when Mr. Brown gave it to his daughter in 1988. By the early 1990s, the 944 had been placed on display at the Merrick Auto Museum in Alda, Nebraska, with just over 5,000 miles on its odometer. The 944 remained on display, maintained in running order, until it was acquired by the consignor in late 2017.

Today, this pristine 944 looks much the way it did when it was first delivered, and even retains its original, date-coded Dunlop Sport Super D4 tires. A full annual service has been performed, with new fuel injectors installed. The tool roll and original spare appear unused, as does the sunroof panel storage bag.

Described by the consignor as having no aftersale modifications, this 944 is truly a rare find. Because the cars were relatively affordable when new, and exhilarating to drive, it is likely that very few 944s were put away for the next generation. This is an opportunity not to be missed.
