The Audi R8 is a mid-engine, two-seater sports car, which uses Audi's trademark “quattro” full-time all-wheel drive system. This model was introduced by the German automaker Audi AG in 2006. The car was exclusively designed, developed, and manufactured by Audi AG's high performance private subsidiary company, quattro GmbH, and is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform. The fundamental construction of the R8 is based on the Audi Space Frame, and uses an aluminum monocoque which is built around space frame principles.

The high-class interior is laden with electronics and immersed in sumptuous leather. With the Lamborghini-sourced 5.2-liter, 525-hp DOHC V-10 with direct injection and matched to the R-Tronic six-speed sequential transmission; the R8 can compete with its most obvious rival, the Porsche 911 Turbo, along with a number of exotic Italians as well.
