To be OFFERED AT AUCTION at Auctions America’s Fort Lauderdale event, April 1-3, 2016.

Estimate:
$125,000 - $150,000 US

When the Ferrari F430 was introduced it was described in one segment of the motoring press as a “South Beach dance club with a steering wheel.” Such is the delight created by this fuel-injected 4.3-liter, 483-hp DOHC V-8 powered beast. To drive it, you should be prepared to live large. The F1 designation is related to the Formula One-style six-speed auto-clutch manual paddle-shifter that enhances an already incredible driving experience, along with a steering wheel rotary control switch that governs the electronic differential settings. Named the “manettino,” by the F1 drivers, it allowed the car’s set up to be changed easily and quickly.

The F430 Coupe had been released in 2005 and was clearly a logical development from the 360M. External changes implemented by Pininfarina included larger air intakes to the front and sides, a redesigned tail and rear diffuser, and new swept headlights. These changes were subtle in form and were executed by utilizing state-of-the-art computer aerodynamic simulation programs used by the Ferrari Formula 1 team. These evolutions helped to make the F430 more fuel efficient and stable, while also reducing drag and lift. The all-new compact, lightweight engine propelled the car to over 193-mph, with a 0– to 62-mph time of 4.1 seconds.

The convertible (aka Spider) only weighed approximately 150 pounds more than the coupe (aka Berlinetta). The superb design of the electric roof allowed the engine to remain visible under its glass cover at the rear of the cockpit. Indeed, the engine can be seen in all its magnificence at all times. Remarkably, the performance of the spider matched that of the coupe, and the difference in torsional rigidity was negligible.

This Ferrari is reported like new having been driven infrequently. It is appropriately finished in traditional Ferrari Rossa Corsa with tan leather interior that is executed in a sporty, yet elegant fashion. Optional Scuderia Ferrari crests are found on the front fenders. Additionally the four-wheel ventilated disc brakes have red calipers (developed in collaboration with Brembo), and the wheels are an exciting alloy design from Ferrari. The safety-oriented roll hoops behind the cockpit are finished in the same interior color, a reported extra cost option versus the standard black. Additional equipment includes air conditioning, radio; power windows, seats, top, steering and four-wheel disc brakes. The Ferrari books and toolkit accompany the car.

With frontal design features inspired by the legendary Ferrari 156 Grand Prix car that the late Phil Hill drove to the 1961 Formula One World Championship, this is an evocative, technologically cutting-edge sports car of the highest possible order. The response and accolades for Ferrari’s F430 were plentiful, and this model is regarded by many to be the most user-friendly Ferrari ever produced. It has stunning looks and is considered to be the most exotic of the choices available in this class of car.

With many performance and luxury appointments, this machine is as close to “as new” as one could expect. It is an exquisite piece.
