The Model: Cadillac’s 1969 styling saw a return to traditional cues starting with the front grill which saw the headlights mounted side-by-side rather than stacked. As to be expected, a long list of standard items that in many cases were not available in lesser cars were found on the Deville such as power steering and brakes with discs up front. Other power items included windows and front seats, radio antenna, and top. Add to the list a padded instrument cluster with sunvisors which included a vanity mirror, as well as new interior lighting and plush interiors. For the convertible, luxurious leathers were used for the seats and even the soft top received special padding. Cadillac’s V8 engines were among the largest displacements in the industry helping keep the marque’s slogan “standard of the world” alive. For 1969, Cadillac really drove home its dominance in the luxury field.

The Car: Showing under 73,000 miles from new this beautiful Cadillac Deville convertible meant that you had really arrived in style. This Cadillac has all the extras one would expect from a car with a price tag starting at $5,900, back when a Chevrolet Impala convertible started at $3,250. Finished in San Mateo Red which is deep and reflective, it’s complimented with supple matching leather seats and a pristine white top. A tribute to superb engineering and an outstanding design, 45 years after it was built, all power equipment and accessories are reported to be in perfect working order including the convertible top. Our consignor tells us this car is in excellent mechanical condition with the engine able to propel this near 4,600 lbs luxury cruiser at highway speeds all day long. Never satisfied with being the best, Cadillac’s people were always improving their product, and for 1969 they really outdid themselves.
