The Model: Despite appearing almost identical to the 1968 and 1969 Corvettes, there were a number of subtle differences with the 1970 editions. One major issue that was somewhat resolve, was a redesign of the wheel wells which was needed to prevent damage to the body from road debris thrown up against the inner panels by the tires. A slight change was also seen in the front fender vents replacing the four slots with an louvre design. But the big news was under the hood where the LS5 version of the big-block 454 was now available for an additional $289.65. Interiors were also reconfigured to allow for easier entry and exiting of the car. However, even with the many improvements, sales suffered this year, partially due to new regulations and higher insurance rates for high-performance vehicle, and also due in part to labor and production issues.

The Car: Rare is a relative term. For 1970, 17,316 Corvette coupes were produced. A total of 4,473 of all 1970 Corvettes received the LS5 454 V8. Very few of those cars were painted Corvette Bronze, a color exclusive to the series, and fewer still with the Saddle Leather Trim, which some sources say wasn’t an available selection. Then add “desirable” and you have this beautiful coupe. Showing under 44,200 miles, which appears to be from new, this coupe was restored to the highest standards. All the gauges are operational as is the original AM/FM radio. Sitting of a fresh set of BF Goodrich T/A radials mounted to the original Rally wheels, this car has the looks or a show winner. Under the hood has been properly prepared with a clean engine bay and spotless undercarriage. Ready to bring home the gold, this 1970 coupe has been prepared for the finest connoisseurs of Corvettes.
