Proteus is one of the few firms making reproductions of classic cars to have established an international reputation for quality, indeed, several books on modern sports cars list Proteus as a maker in its own right. Only 54 original Jaguar C Types were made and it is worth noting that the first three World Champions, Giuseppe Farina, Alberto Ascari and Juan-Manuel Fangio, all bought them as road cars.
