As a successor to the pre-war model of the same name, Fiat presented the 1100 103 Berlina at the Geneva Saloon in 1953. It really was a new car throughout, featuring attractive four door bodywork with ‘suicide’ doors at the front and conventional ones for the rear passengers. The gearbox was operated through a column shift, allowing for a bench front seat which could accommodate three, albeit smallish, people, while the engine was a 1,098cc four cylinder unit with overhead valves producing some 40bhp, enough to attain speeds of around 70mph/110kph .
