Production of the Ghibli began with a fastback coupe in April of 1967, joined by a spider or convertible variant in 1969. The Ghibli was powered by a 4,719 cc V8 engine with dry-sump lubrication and chain-driven camshafts that was enlarged to 4,930 cc of displacement in 1970.
