1979 Winner of the Triveneto Rally Championship
The wonderful car you see here is a Fiat 124 Abarth Sports Racing Spider prepared for rallying to Group 3 specification. Originally the car was registered with the Milan registration MI U 11101. Its first owner, Leopoldo Ruggeri took part in various rallies including the ‘Valformazze‘, the ‘Rally di Biella‘, the ‘Rally della Lana‘ as well as the Como, Pavia and Varese rallies.
Its second owner Giuliano Gavazzi had the car prepared by Gotti Hego to take part in the Mille Miglia Rally as well as the Monte Venda Rally which he won in his class.
It was subsequently sold to a competitor from Viterbo near Rome from where it continued its competition career. Hence its Viterbo registration number.
