Beschreibung
"We are delighted to offer this fabulously original Volkswagen Panel Van presented in L87 Pearl White with grey upholstery to the cab and a splendid, unique interior conversion. This German built Panel Van left the factory and was shipped to Toronto, Canada in early 1964. The original owners were Rainbow, Painting & Decorating Ltd of Winnipeg, Manitoba and it was used for many years before being parked up in their yard.
In 2016, it was rescued by an enthusiast and shipped to the UK where it underwent a full restoration whilst leaving the exterior to show the original signwriting and battle scars. The original 'rainbow' design has been left in place along with various bumps and scrapes acquired over the last 56 years. The underside was stripped and restored with new metal where necessary whilst the steering, brakes and suspension were renewed as required. The brakes were converted to a dual circuit set-up with new heat exchangers and exhaust fitted. The original 1200cc engine has been replaced with a later, and more powerful, rebuilt 1500cc unit fitted with a Solex carburettor; the original unit is available if required. Works to the driver’s cab included a retrim to the seats, door cards and floor mat. At this time, seat belts were added for safety, whilst the original overhead heater box was retained. In the rear compartment, the interior has been trimmed in hessian and timber and a ‘rock 'n' roll’ bed was fitted along with a rather nifty storage unit made from a converted barrel. There is LED lighting to the rear, a leisure battery, a USB port and an all-important, built in, Fireboy Suppression System fire extinguisher was fitted in the engine compartment. This wonderful ‘Splitty’ has new tyres all round and recently completed a 500 mile trip to the UK from the owner's holiday home in France. This example comes with a memory stick detailing several pictures of the restoration before and after along with images of the van as it was found in snow-bound Canada. Also included is a file of invoices and the UK V5 registration document. This panel van, retaining its fabulous original panel work, has been built to a high standard with excellent undersides and mechanicals, lending itself as a reliable and useful mode of transport. It’s also super-cool whatever you may plan to do with it."
