Beschreibung
The Volkswagen Beetle was first introduced in 1938 and is indubitably the world’s most recognizable car. Although barely altered in silhouette since its inception, the ingeniously designed Volkswagen Beetle would undergo a practically infinite number of improvements, both large and small over the ensuing decades. Built for practicality rather than outright performance, the air-cooled rear-engined “Bug” was considered one of the most reliable automobiles on the road. Deemed the everyman’s runabout, their status as an icon has since grown to gargantuan levels. Today, these beguiling Bugs enjoy a cult status like few other automobiles.
Finished in Code L54D Marina Blue paint with a Black basket-weave vinyl interior, this lovely standard Beetle is distinguished by what the consignor describes as 100% originality throughout, and exceptionally low mileage. For a car nearly 50 years old, this Bug appears barely broken in, with less than 1,900 miles showing on its odometer and still sporting its five original tires, alternator belt, and Sapphire model XVIII AM-band radio. Acquired from a Washington-based collector by the consignor in 2014, the Beetle has since been museum kept and is offered with its original jack, tools and rarely seen factory assembly sheet. One of a tiny handful that were never put into regular service, this bright-eyed Beetle is a worthy ambassador of its enormously important heritage, and deserves to be preserved for future generations to enjoy.
