Beschreibung

The 1967 Volkswagen Beetle was the final year of the 1957–1967 series and is a one-year-only transition edition. 1967 was also the last year in which round bumpers and a metal dashboard were featured, and was the first iteration with sealed beam headlights, a 12-volt electrical system, dual circuit drum brakes, and improved suspension.

According to the Volkswagen Zertifikat on file, this example left the factory on December 12, 1966, finished in Zenith Blue with black leatherette upholstery, and was shipped to Los Angeles, with special US equipment. The Beetle was purchased new from Van Wyk Volkswagen in 1967 before being acquired by its second owner, who retained it until December 2018. Upon receipt, the third and current owner restored the Beetle to its original specifications per the Volkswagen Zertifikat. After the car was dismantled, the body was stripped and then finished with two coats of epoxy primer and period-correct Zenith Blue paint. The original engine was rebuilt by Import Auto Parts of Santa Barbara, California, with new, larger 1,600 cc pistons and cylinders. The Solex carburetor and distributor were also rebuilt; a new gas tank, muffler, and wiring harness were installed; and the interior was refurbished to factory specifications.

Accompanied by a dossier of receipts and a Volkswagen Zertifikat, this recently restored Beetle is a three-owner, single-year-edition model that will remain forever in vogue.
