This cool Beetle with its iconic split rear window was, according to its birth certificate, delivered to the new AMAG in Zurich on the 11th October 1951 and first registered in February 1952. Obviously it was destined for the Baselland civil guard before it was taken over by a private owner. He was transferred to Australia for professional reasons and took his beetle with him to “down under”. There it was converted to right hand drive and ,after its return to Switzerland, was left in that configuration. In 2012 the car was taken over by its last owner who used it for occasional outings to classic car shows until his passing in 2024. Currently the Beetle is in technically good condition with the coachwork as well as the interior showing age correct signs of use. The Volkswagen with its interesting history will be handed over to a new owner with its last veteran MOT from September 2020.
