The Golf Country, based on the second-generation Golf (Mk2), was well ahead of its time. With its raised ride height, permanent four-wheel drive (Syncro), protective bars and rugged looks, it combined the comfort of a hatchback with the capabilities of an off-roader. Production was kept deliberately limited, which makes the Golf Country a highly sought-after and collectible model today.
