Beschreibung

The Golf, still the German marque's flagship model today, marked a major advance for the company when it was introduced, with the engine mounted transversely at the front and in front-wheel drive. Numerous sportier and more limited versions were produced, including the legendary GTI. The Golf dropped the roof in 1979 and was offered in a Quartett edition from 1986, with superior finishes, engines and equipment.

Our Karmann Golf Cabriolet was put on the road on 23 August 1989, is fitted with the desirable 1,800 cm3 112 bhp engine and today has a total of 1,079,040 kilometers driven by its one and only owner. The car has spare keys. The vehicle is undamaged, with favorable Volkswagen Classic and Histovec certificates. This French first hand from the south of France has its stamped service book showing the care taken throughout its life, more information on request.

ENGINE AND GEARBOX
Once underway, the 1800cc 4-cylinder engine stabilizes perfectly and emits no suspicious smoke. The thrust is straightforward, with no dips in power, and the engine enjoys high revs. Service file available on request. The short-ratio 5-speed gearbox, ideal for the Golf, is precise and easy to use, with a lever that falls perfectly to hand. At speed, the steering is direct and precise. Extensive mechanical maintenance has been carried out on the engine (filters, fluids, timing, etc.) and running gear (discs, brake pads, brakes, etc.). Older history known, contact us for more information.

EXTERIOR
It owes its compact, angular lines, typical of its era, to the maestro of car design, Giorgetto Giugiaro. Karmann later modified the lines for the Quartett finish. The original black paintwork (code L041) has been carefully redone in its entirety (rocker panels, fender extensions and bumpers removed and painted separately), giving the car a brand new appearance with a beautiful shine and uniform paint thickness. The black tint, although not offered on the Quartett trim levels, is indeed original to this model, as confirmed by the Volkswagen Classic certificate. The plastics are in perfect condition. The 14-inch 'Avus' two-tone alloy wheels have been refurbished by a specialist and add to the car's sporty look. The original beige vinyl soft top has been refurbished by a saddler. The underpinnings and wheel arches are faultless.

INTERIOR
The Quartett finish gives the Golf's interior an even higher level of finish. The "Lasky White" fabric upholstery is in very good condition, with only minimal signs of use, and has been professionally washed and refinished. The predominantly black plastics have aged well with their good quality assembly. The dashboard cover is not warped, the front and rear seats are free of tears and offer excellent seating comfort, while the floor mats are also in perfect condition. In terms of comfort, the original working radio will be installed for the sale of the vehicle.

CONSUMABLES
The brakes are quite hard-wearing and effective, given the car's low weight, and have just been refurbished (new hoses, pads, discs and fluid). The 185/60 R14 Firestone tyres date from 2022 and are brand new.
