We have a really special Volvo 133 GT. Oh yes this is not a typing error, it is actually a rare 133 GT and not the 123 GT! It was supplied from new by the Eindhoven based Jansen Volvo garage on the 12th February 1968. Except for a few years this car has always remained in the hands of the same family. It has a factory supplied 100 Hp engine developed for the P 1800 S. The 133 GT was a further development from the 122 S and 123 GT. Only a few were ever produced and mainly for the Dutch market. They were intended as a competitor to BMW. The 133 GT differs from the 122 S by its P 1800 S engine, GT steering wheel, the bootlid GT badge and only being available as a 2-door version. The 133 GT differs from the 123 GT by the addition of an overdrive on the 4th, the shorter rear axle, a dashboard rev counter, seat upholstery, wider rims, a wide beam light and a spotlight (Hella). This 133 has been totally modified and has an electric sunroof, rear screen heating, a modified undercarriage (as fully detailed in the documentation), transmission and differential according 123 GT spec and ‘Buttkereit’ B22 engine! The latter modification is a really special feature. The B20 block was bored up to the next standard size of approximately 2140 cc. It has Volvo R-Sport pistons, new water and oil pumps, R-Sport F-camshaft, a balanced crankshaft, a lightweight fly-wheel, pressure group and pulley. It also has thermostatic oil cooler, Buttkereit cylinder head with enlarged valves, ported to match the manifolds, an aluminium inlet manifold with twin SU carburettors, R-Sport exhaust manifold (4-1), Buttkereit valve cover and an oversized cooling element with a thermostatic Kenlow fan. These modifications allow for a documented roller-road tested 161 Hp and excellent road handling. The bodywork has been ‘Body-Off’ restored by Volvo specialist Piet Mozes. The straight body panels are excellently aligned and have been internally treated with Dinitrol. A unique 133 GT Volvo with a superbly fast engine and dito provenance.
