Beschreibung
"The Commodore sold by Holden, part of GM,was manufactured from 1978 to 2017 in Australia and from 1979 to 1990 in New Zealand, with production of the locally manufactured versions in Australia ending on 20thOctober 2017. From 1984, Holden began branding the flagship model as the Holden Calais. Long-wheelbase Statesman/Caprice derivatives and Commodore utility body variants followed. The third generationVS architecture spawned a new Holden utility (now officially as the Holden UTE) and a reborn Monaro coupé in 2001, the story goes that the UTE pick-up truck variant was invented in response to a letter from an Australian family. They wanted a vehicle that was capable of hauling pigs but also taking the farming couple to church on Sundays. In 1987 Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) began official modification of high performance variants of the Commodore and its derivatives, under its own nameplate.
This 1997 Commodore V8 UTE is presented in black coachwork with cloth trim, alloy wheels and a lockable flat bed, it also has the rare and original T shape window cover to keep the Australian sun out but our vendor tells us it keeps the British frost off just as well. Over the winter this vehicle has been treated to a new battery, a full set of tyres and some recommissioning. It starts on the turn of the key and sounds fabulous with no mistaking what is under the bonnet with the V8 powerplant is mated to a four-speed Hydramatic GM-4L60-E shallow pan gearbox. Offered with the V5 registration document, an MoT certificate until August 2021 and including the private plate P500 UTE, this is a rare car to be seen on the UK roads and with the 5.0 litre V8, great fun and practical.
